Whitwell is a small village situated in the North East corner of Derbyshire, England approximately 155 miles north of London and close to the market town of Worksop. It sits in a unique position where the great counties of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire meet.

Over 1000 years old and predating the Doomsday book, the agricultural village of Whitwell also had its own colliery between the 1890’s and 1980’s which further shaped the development of the community. Today, sited centrally within the Creswell Crags heritage area the village is less than four miles from one of the most important archaeological sites in Britain (Creswell Crags), containing Ice Age rock art.

The Property: Chapel Yard Cottage

Is a charming 19th Century stone and brick cottage, refurbished in the 1980’s by Derbyshire County Council and English Heritage and within walking distance of Whitwell village centre and the beautiful Forestry Commission managed Whitwell Woods (approx 420 acres in area with way marked trails).  Offering traditional and cosy accommodation over three floors, Chapel Yard Cottage boasts a wonderful kitchen, cosy lounge and south-east facing  patio garden. Well equipped and comfortable, the cottage is ideally located for exploring all that the region has to offer. Close to where Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire meet, and close to the motorway network(M1 & A1), Whitwell is a great touring base from which to explore the Peak District Border country and Sherwood Forest,  or plan an activity based holiday. The cottage is also suitable for business people working away from home, tired of hotel rooms.

Accommodation
